Day 1: Arrive Mukambi Safari Lodge

Arrive to Livingstone airport today and transfer to your small charter flight that takes you to a location just 40 minutes from your first safari camp in Zambia, Mukambi Safari Lodge. This welcoming lodge is located along the banks of the Kafue River just outside the park boundaries and is a great introduction to the safari camp experience with electricty and hot running water. Spend the evening getting settled in, or set out on a game drive for your first experience of Kafue National Park.
Day 2: Kafue National Park Introduction

Spend today as you like. Excursions are available from the lodge, or you can opt to cross the river and head in to the park for a game drive today. Try a boat cruise on the river to spot crocodile, hippo, and a variety of birdlife that rely on the waterway. Fishing may also be optional, with most catching bream, silver barbel, or pike. The day is yours to choose to take part in safari activities as you like.
Day 3: On to Fig Tree Bush Camp

Set out today for your hour and a half drive in to the park to your new safari camp, Fig Tree Bush Camp, situated along the sandy beach banks of the Shishamba River. The safari camp overlooks a lagoon which attracts a variety of species throughout the season including elephant, puku, impala, warthog, hartebeest, and zebra. Leopard, cheetah, lion and wild dog have been known to frequent the area as well.
Day 4: Fig Tree Bush Camp

Enjoy your stay here at the Fig Tree Bush Camp. Set out for a game drive or walking safari today with your guide to explore this area. Spend the evening spotting hippo and crocodile on the shores of the river. After dinner, enjoy star gazing while you sit around the campfire sharing stories from the day’s adventures.
Day 5: On to Busanga Plains

Rise this morning for your last morning in central Kafue before setting out on your 6-hour drive through the park to the Busanga Plains in the more remote northern section of the park. Settle in to your new accommodation, the Mukambi Plains Camp located overlooking the famed Busanga Plains. Here you can spot a variety of wildlife from right off the deck including red lechwe, puku, antelope, and buffalo. Large prides of lion also inhabit the Busanga Plains region.
Day 6-7: Busanga Plains Walking Safaris

Spend your days here exploring the plains with a professional guide. Game drives and walking safaris are the plan here. The Busanga Plains are teeming with wildlife, and many species can be spotted from the camp’s deck. Red lechwe antelope are seen throughout the plains at almost any time of day. Day 8: Return Lusaka
