5Day Economic Tour- Lower Zambezi National Park

Spend five days in this more remote and hard-to-access safari destination in Zambia in a luxury bushcamp designed to give you the best comfort on your safari adventure. Located along the northern banks of the Zambezi River, the Lower Zambezi National Park is a seldom-visited wildlife park with healthy populations of buffalo, elephant, lion, leopard, and antelope. Spend your days on safari with your guide on game drives, walking safaris, canoe safaris, and boat cruises along the rivers. Try your hand at fishing or spend time spotting birdlife as you experience the best of this wildlife-rich national park in Zambia.

Day 1: Arrive Lusaka | Transfer to Sausage Tree Camp
  • Hotel
  • 1 Dinner

Arrive into Lusaka* today on your flight and board your smaller caravan plane for a flight to Jeki airstrip, a dirt airstrip located near Lower Zambezi National Park. From here set out on an hour-long game drive as you transfer to your safari lodge for the evening, Sausage Tree Camp.

The park is very remote and one of the lesser-visited parks in the region due to the lack of accessible roads. Up until 1983, the Lower Zambezi National Park used to be the private game reserve for the president, which helped to keep it preserved from masses of tourists and development in the 1900s. It remains one of the more pristine and intact wilderness areas in southern Africa.

*Charter flights from Livingstone are also available.

Day 2-4: Lower Zambezi National Park
  • Hotel
  • 3 Breakfasts, 3 Lunches, 3 Dinners

Bordered by the Zambezi River and Mana Pools National Park on the Zimbabwe side, the limited access to this park and ample water helps ensure healthy populations of wildlife. Cape buffalo are largely found roaming the plain. Large populations of elephant, lion, leopard, antelope, hippo, and crocodile are also present. The Cape wild dog may be spotted occasionally, and a large variety of birdlife also inhabit the area.

Spend your days taking part in a number of safari activities offered by Sausage Tree. Game viewing takes place both by land and on the water. Set out on day and night game drives or walking safaris with your guide to spot some of the wildlife in Lower Zambezi National Park. Opt instead for a one-hour canoe ride or go on a full-day boating adventure. Motorized cruises and fishing are also options that await. Plan your days’ activities as you like.

Day 5: Return Home
  • 1 Breakfast
Return to Jeki airstrip for your flight back to Lusaka to connect on to your next destination.
