Itinerary
Day 1: Johannesburg – Kalahari, Botswana
This Botswana Accommodated tour departs at 06h30 from Johannesburg Lodge and make our way to the border of Botswana near Lobatse. We will travel a long way towards the Kalahari Plains where our accommodation is located near Kang at Kalahari Rest Lodge. Tonight our guide will explain what can be expected in the days to come as we enjoy a catered meal.

Day 2: Kalahari Bushmen, Botswana
We enjoy a cup of hot coffee before filling up on a camp breakfast and continuing to Ghanzi, where we will meet the Kalahari Bushmen and enjoy learning about their ways. Our experience will include a bush walk led by Bushmen. We will spend the night in the comfortable accommodation of Dqae Qare San Lodge on land that is owned by the local people who reside here.

Day 3 – 5: Okavango Delta, Botswana
The Okavango is an enormous river leading into the sandy scenery of the Kalahari Desert, forming the world’s largest inland delta. This delta forms a unique ecosystem that contains a wide variety of animal life and vegetation. The sight of a nervous Lechwe pounding across a flooded plain, the Jacana striding delicately amongst the flowering lilies, the Bee Eater diving to prey on an unsuspecting insect, and of course the familiar cry of the African Fish Eagle all combine to create one of nature’s most incredible masterpieces.
We enjoy our time here exploring the area where local guides educate us about the animals and plants that call the Delta home. We will also have time to learn about the locals way of life in this wilderness.

Day 6: Okavango Delta – Maun, Botswana
An early start sees us heading back to civilisation. We arrive in Maun in the afternoon where we will get some fresh supplies. Our accommodation this evening is at the Maun Lodge which is located on the Boteti River and has a swimming pool, bar and restaurant.

Day 7-10: Flexible Game Reserve Schedule (Moremi/ Savuti), Botswana
In the early morning we return to Maun where we stock up on our supplies for the next few days. We will prepare ourselves for a game viewing trip using our vehicle to get into the wilderness, passing remote villages along the way. These 5 days will be spent in different game reserves, beginning with the Moremi Game Conservation. After arriving at this reserve we will spend our night near the famous third bridge. We will fall asleep surrounded by the sounds of nature’s wildlife. After our overnight, we travel via Xakanaxa towards the North Gate where our camp will be set up for us. Here, you can expect wonderful game viewing which is why we will spend our entire day game driving through the wetlands of the region.
We then drive to the Savuti region where our next campsite awaits us. This area gives us wonderful game drive opportunities. The environment is constantly changing from open plains, palm trees and marshland, to dense Mopane woodlands and Acacia scrub. We camp in pristine, private sites that are untouched by man, ensuring that when we leave it is in the same condition. An opportunity to venture into the Central Kalahari Game Reserve or the Makgadigadi Pans National Park may present itself but would be completed dependant on the conditions in the national park.

Day 11: Maun, Botswana
We leave the national parks and make our way slowly back to our lodge in Maun. Here you can enjoy a lunch at the lodge at your own expense. Spend the day relaxing at the pool before enjoying a lovely catered meal before having a comfortable nights sleep.

Day 12: Makgadikgadi Pans, Botswana
This morning we enjoy lazing by the swimming pool and enjoying a midday brunch. We suggest joining the local village walk where you learn more about the daily life of the locals. Afterward, we set off east to the enormous Makgadikgadi Salt Pans.
The Makgadikgadi Pans has spectacular dry scenery, famous for its abundant birdlife and other desert-adapted animals it attracts. Today we will be aware of our untouched environment and enjoy the serenity of the area. Tonight we set up tents and enjoy a night under a canopy of glittering stars. Our guides will explain the constellations to you as this is the perfect spot for star-gazing. The pans may be inaccessible at the time of our arrival in which case we will make use of alternative accommodation.

Day 13: Chobe River – Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
Travelling North to Chobe, known for its large population of elephant which gather on the floodplains, a very stark contrast to the salt pans of the previous day. This afternoon we will enjoy an extensive boat cruise which enables us to get up close to the hippos and elephants on the waters edge. We then cross the border to spend the night in luxury at the Victoria Falls Lodge which is within walking distance of the falls and other attractions.

Day 14: Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
This morning we will wake up in the adventure capital of Africa, and after a good night’s sleep, we will discover the amazing Victoria Falls, known by the local people as Mosi-oa-Tunya – ‘The smoke that thunders’. We will take our time to enjoy the unforgettable falls and afterwards we will visit the tribal village or the curio market. You can also participate in a few optional activities such as an aircraft flip over the falls or a boat trip on the Zambezi River, white water rafting or bungee jumping to complete your experience of a lifetime. We will stay for two nights at the Victoria Falls lodge, which will give us the chance to discover the area on foot or by bicycle.
Two of the nights we will have dinner at local restaurants (own expense). Relax to the sound of the African night and the distant roar of the falls and drink farewell toasts to your adventure.

Day 15: Victoria Falls – Francistown, Botswana
The people who depart on the 15-day tour will do so here and the other travellers will go back to Botswana and complete the long drive back to Francistown. We stay in comfortable lodgings in Francistown and share our experiences over our last dinner on tour.
