Itinerary

Day 1: Victoria Falls to Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe

Our journey starts in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe at 1400 today. If you do want to visit the Falls, we would suggest you arrive a day early or visit the falls in the morning. We receive a full briefing of the tour by expert guides, after which we begin our travels south. We make our way down to Hwange National Park. You will then have the afternoon to replace by the pool and destress in the bush.

Hwange National Park is in west Zimbabwe. Its grasslands and mopane woods are home to large elephant herds, lions and African wild dogs.

Day 2: Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe

Following a hearty early breakfast, we embark on a game drive in the Northern Hwange Game Reserve which provides us with the chance to spot some huge buffalo and lions. We will take part in a game drive and a game walk during the day. A truly magical bush experience.

Day 3: Nata, Botswana

After breakfast you will depart out of Zimbabwe and onto Botswana and the small town of Nata (located on the edge of the Makgadikgadi pans. You will arrive at your lodge in time for lunch in the restaurant (at your own expense).

After you have settled in, you will head to the Nata Bird Sanctuary, where depending on the time of year, it is possible to see large flocks of flamingos and pelicans feeding and nesting on the pans.

The Nata Bird Sanctuary, the only protected reserve in Botswana in the northeastern periphery of Sowa Pan, is a community-managed project, with assistance from the Nata Conservation Committee and local and international organizations.

Day 4: Makgadikgadi, Botswana

After an early breakfast you will head towards your next lodge the Boteti River Camp, an oasis on the edge of the Makgadikgadi National Park entrance gate to Khumaga. You will have lunch at your camp and the afternoon will be spent in the village of Khumaga, a small village of about 1000 people. You can find out about their way of life and further insight into the local culture.

The Makgadikgadi Pans are famous for their shimmering salt pans and home to hippos, wildebeest & zebras plus baobabs in the 3, 900 sq. km.

Day 5: Makgadikgadi, Botswana

Today your full-day activity will lead you to Nxai Pan, this national park is home to Elephant, Giraffe, Lion, Leopard, Cheetah and many more. In additional to exploring the pan, you will have the chance to see the incredible Baines Baobabs (Baines Baobabs overlook Kudiakam pan, on the south side of Nxai Pan National Park, is a group of 7 giant baobab trees known as the 7 Sisters).

Nxai Pan National Park is a national park in north-eastern Botswana, consisting of Nxai Pan, which is one of the Makgadikgadi Pan salt flats.

Days 6: Maun, Botswana

You will travel West to Maun passing through some beautiful areas. Arriving around noon in town, you can do a bit of shopping for curios, safari drinks and necessities before lunch.(Rest of the day at leisure)

In the afternoon, you will have the option of taking a scenic flight over the Delta (45 min. Maun to Maun scenic flight). This will allow you to experience the beauty of the Okavango Delta’s with its unique waterways and potential larger wildlife like hippos,giraffe and elephants that frequent the area.

Days 7 – 8: Moremi / Khwai River, Botswana

Leaving Maun, we travel to the Khwai River region, on the Moremi Game Reserve’s border, one of the finest wilderness regions of Botswana with massive populations of game. The following two days will be spent seeking out the wide range of animal and birdlife that this place is famous for, whilst taking in the beautiful sights and sounds of the area. We embark on a game driving in the early morning as the sun rises and in the early evening as night begins to fall.

From Maun the drive meanders through to the Khwai River area, on the border of Moremi Game Reserve, one of the best wilderness areas of Botswana with very high concentrations of game. The next two days will be spent searching for the wide variety of wildlife and birds that this area is renowned for while absorbing the sounds and beauty of this region. Enjoy game drives in the early morning as the sun rises and in the late afternoon as the sun sets. Night at the Khwai Guesthouse in the Khwai Village. (B, L, D). Route: Maun to Khwai area 160 kms
Travel Time: ±5 hrs (including game drive)

Day 9 -10: Chobe, Botswana

The safari then heads North towards a rustic camp in Chobe on the edge of Chobe National Park, which will be home for the next 2 nights.  Large herds of elephant are frequently seen walking to and from the river. Due to the high density of herbivores in this area many predators, such as lions and leopards call this home.

This day will again be a full day activity as we will do a full day of game drives through the Savuti area of the Chobe National Park and North towards the Chobe flood plains. You will have your lunch break along the road surrounded by great wildlife and arrive late afternoon into your lodge.

While staying at Chobe Elephant Camp in this area, a game drive, as well as a boat cruise in the Chobe National Park, will allow the discovery of this incredible area from both land and water.

Chobe National Park is in northern Botswana near the vast, inland Okavango Delta. It’s known for its large herds of elephants and Cape buffalo, which converge along the Chobe Riverfront in the dry months.

Travel Time: 10hrs (including Game Drives)

Days 11 – 12: Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

Today we leave Chobe, Botswana and head across the border to Victoria Falls Zimbabwe (Visa required), where you will spend the night at a Pioneers.

In the afternoon come face to face with the thunderous Victoria Falls and shop for curios with the roar of the water reverberating nearby.

At Victoria Falls there are many activities from jumping off the bridge to flying high in the sky.

Onward Travel Plans

Due to circumstances beyond our control while on tour (such as border crossings, traffic, breakdowns and delays, etc), the end time on the last day cannot be guaranteed. Therefore we strongly recommend you stay the night and fly out the next day. Please consult with your booking consultant.
